THE LUXURY OF TECHNOLOGIES. An overview of interesting solutions from Proposte

Proposte is an exhibition, where the manufacturers demonstrate their achievements. That means, original techniques and technological decisions are more important here, than particular designs.
Most of the exposed decisions were for furniture fabrics, about 70% of the presented fabrics were meant for upholstery. Making upholstery fabrics allow manufacturers more space for creativity, yet many of the exposed decisions will be used for the interior fabrics as well.
The main idea of this exhibition is: "No!" - to plain, straight designs and structures!"
Modern fabrics should surprise, show their different facets and are not to be boring. The best fabric is intricate and many-sided in structure and design, it has many details that surprise the consumer.

We selected some of the ways, how the factories are going to make their clients surprised.
At first, this is the voluminous pattern and the combination of several techniques in one fabric. We saw many experiments with the basis: colorful basis, prints, jacquard designs on the basis.

There are complex designs, mixed colors, made from several yarns of different colors. You can see there also abstract designs or combining of several designs, changing over from one to another. And of course there are the 'distressed' effects that would add to the design deepness and make it more complex.

The next trend we have noticed - wool yarns in all types of fabric, from light to furniture ones.

And of course we admired the shine of the fabrics. Most of the fabrics we saw had this intricate glow. It was intensified by golden yarns.

Indian producers have traditionally demonstrated a lot of embroidery, multicolored and complex designs, covering the whole fabric surface or combined with prints. Technological progress is bringing us back to the hand-made embroidery and painting on fabrics as the most valuable techniques.
One more trend of this season is ecological and social issues in the fabric production, such as ecologically friendly raw materials for fabric painting and finishing.
