Preview of Heimtextil 2018 trends
The upcoming Heimtextil 2018 presents the key themes of this year’s trend-zone

The major event in decorative textile industry, Heimtextil 2018 is approaching very soon.

Organizers of the trade fair say there will be about 3000 textile companies from all over the world taking part in this exhibition. The decorative and upholstery sector is growing rapidly so that extra Hall 4.2 has been added this year.

Textiles for HORECA market and contract business will be the core of the business program, and there will be a special zone arranged for this theme at the exhibition.

But, of course, we pay more attention at trends zone. This year’s theme park will be held under the title “Future is Urban”.

Future is Urban

By the year of 2030, most of the population will live in 41 metropolises with more than 10 million inhabitants in each city. Such a massive scale of urbanization will set new goals and problems for people and will define the impact of urban life on working, living, communicating and shopping.

Urban life concepts determine such issues as overpopulation, lack of space, depletion of natural resources, stress and information overload, a lack of contact with nature.

Designers’ main tasks

As a result of new challenges caused by urbanization, there are new directions in interior design, new space concepts such as “The flexible space”, “The healthy space”, “Urban oasis”, etc.

These will help people to adopt in complex urban environment. Designers will become conductors for those solutions and our profession will become as important as doctors and psychologists.

Based on the new design directions presented by Heimtextil, WilliZ has highlighted 5 main tasks which designers will need to solve in their projects:
1. To help people live in limited space (The flexible space).

2. To give energy and ability to recover (The healthy space).

3. To bring joy by imperfection of manual labor (The maker space).

4. To implant the nature into daily life (Biophilia).

5. To give a second life to products, help to re-use them (The re-made space).


The Heimtextil has also worked on the development of 5 trends for each of the direction in interior and decorative textile in 2018. There are 5 trends:
1. Soft Minimal.

2. Relax and Recharge.

3. Perfect Imperfection.

4. Urban Oasis.

5. Adapt and Assemble.

Below we will present a brief review on Heimtextil 2018 trends.

HELP PEOPLE LIVE IN LIMITED SPACE
Trend: Soft Minimal. Space philosophy: Flexible Space.

The lack of space makes designers and architects create multifunctional zones and convertible furniture while trying to preserve a feeling of coziness, comfort and harmony.

Interior textile in this trend features following solutions:
– Muted pastel colors.
– Minimalism.
– Tactile fabrics.
– Technological textiles.

GIVE ENERGY AND ABILITY TO RECOVER
Trend: Relax and Recharge. Space philosophy: Healthy space.

People tend to spend most of their time indoors, and usually living and working spaces are interrelated, and the new generation of Airbnb is growing, - people who don’t belong to any city or a place.

Spaces where we live and work at have a strong effect on our well-being, and the main problems we usually face are the lack of fresh air, high noise level and tiresome bright artificial light.

Interior textile in this trend features following solutions:
– Chromotherapy.
– Monochrome interior.
– Degrade, color transitions.
– Red – calming, blue – stimulating.
– Contrast of textures.

BRING JOY BY IMPERFECTION OF MANUAL LABOR
Trend: Perfect Imperfection. Space philosophy: Maker space

The maker movement has triggered a revolution in the industry. 3d printers, digital printing and other innovations make it possible for everyone to develop furniture, clothes and decoration. Nowadays the process of production localization is on the prompt increase.

Each year more workshops and small design studios can compete with global brands in every field. Product personalization and manual labor get more value.

Interior textile in this trend features following solutions:
– Praise the imperfection.
– Be fond of the results of own labor.
– Indigo, clay color, natural dyes.
– Handicraft technologies.

IMPLANT THE NATURE INTO DAILY LIFE
Trend: Urban Oasis. Space philosophy: Biophilia.

We tend to spend most of the time indoors therefor we lose the connection with the nature. This trend is about strengthening the role of the nature in urbanization conditions, so designers include green oases in offices and living spaces more often.

Interior textile in this trend features following solutions:
– Lush green mixed with matt pink.
– Flora and fauna in printings.
– Luxurious natural fabrics.
– Natural textures, marble.

GIVE A SECOND LIFE TO PRODUCTS
Trend: Adapt and Assemble. Space philosophy: Re-Made Space.

For the first time in history, the amount of waste produced in cities is growing faster than urbanization itself. The lack of natural resources problem has led us to the understanding of recycling and reusing importance.

In connection with this issue, the new direction in design has emerged – creating new products out of old ones, using recyclable materials and building modular things that are easily repaired.

– Recycling.
– Membrane cell structures.
– Bright primary colors.
– Modular design.
